We have a rich and varied tradition behind us in Ireland, a valuable inheritance that we cherish and from which we continue to learn – but a culture that is not always changing, always transforming itself, constantly re-imagining itself, cannot hope to thrive and prosper. The Arts Council created a programme in which a selection of artists were chosen to reflect on our inheritance, to make work for the present and future that will become an inheritance for the generations to come. On Easter Sunday 2016 Blessington No.1 School were delighted to have the privilege and pleasure of saluting, and enjoying, some of the fruits of that programme by partaking in RTE’s Live Broadcast of One Hundred Years a Nation from Collins Barracks.
