Book Week was a resounding success on all counts. The school benefitted to the amount of €1033.20 in school books for our library. The theme of this year’s book week was “Illustrations/Illustrators”. Wicklow’s representative in the Rose of Tralee, Sarah Walsh, a budding young illustrator from Dunlavin visited the school and worked with Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Classes. They produced amazing Illustrations during her 2 hour session.

Alan Nolan, an author and illustrator, worked with 3rd to 6th Classes and all pupils created their own comic strip and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There was a competition for all classes to illustrate a cover for their choice of book.

On Wednesday afternoon Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class enjoyed a Teddy Bear’s picnic in the sunshine with their parents. The parents read to the children from favourite books. On Friday afternoon, 2nd to 6th class took part in a Book Treasure Hunt in the school grounds.
